Glass Jar Labels/Tags 1

Started this project sometime in the beginning of January. I was rummaging thru a thrifts store when i found a couple of lovely jars that i couldn't resist buying. Two of them were short jars with a rectangular pattern on the glass and had wood tops while the other one was a tall glass jar, also with its wooden top. I happened to already have a couple of other jars stashed away so i decided to make some lovely labels for them!
For the labels I decided to make them out of Faux Leather. I started by cutting the labels out of construction paper (pieces on the left in the image below) to get a rough idea of the label sizes. in total i used four different types of faux leather; the twin jars would get the same type of leather and design...
For the backs, i went with dying them with black and brown acrylic diluted in a bit of water since some of them had a light colored cloth as backing...
Next came gluing some of the pieces together....
and then adding some fasteners here and there...

Next came sowing the side strips together...they were sowed using brown stained string along along their length...
Once sown, i attached them to the backs of the label portion...I couldn't make these side straps one piece since some of the leather pieces weren't that long...

Dirtied them up a bit using slightly diluted black acrylic...

Tied at the back using some stained cotton string and they all got some polymer teeth tied at their ends.
I'm not sure what to do to the glass jars yet; maybe make them look aged? carve/burn some design onto their wooden caps? so this project is on hold for now!
