First Paper Mache Project: Dave the Tortoise

Two years ago I created my first paper mache sculpture. The overall structure was composed of newspaper, flour paste, wire, tissue paper, white glue, and masking tape. The detail giving shape to the shell was made out of handmade paper clay and the legs scales and nails, out of cardboard. Painted with acrylics and black-washed with diluted acrylics.
