Quick Book: Wood Burning

So my cousin wanted me to make her a book based on the norse tree of life, yggrasil. Started out with black illustration board for the covers...
Looked around for a nice design to put on the cover. Kudos to the maker of this piece, Leliumoj from Deviantart
The design would be burned onto a piece of wood veneer...if you are not familiar with what a veneer is, it is sometimes used when doing home built ins and some furniture where it is only a sheet of wood...
started off with the fun burning! i tried tracing the design onto the wood surface but i couldn't quite see the pencil marks on it so i went with taping the design onto the wood piece and burned right thru the paper.
 and it worked nicely!

 et voila!

next came some corner add-ons made out of cardboard...
 weathering the wood a bit...
preparing the black leather spine piece for a long stitch...
corner add-ons were dented with the wood burner using a domed tip and then painted with a bronze colored metallic paint...
I seem to not have images of this but the black illustration board pieces were completely covered with a paper napkin that had a slight texture to it and then it was glued on by saturating the napkin with white glue...then the covers were painted black with variations of gray and white...
wood veneer pieces were glued on...
meanwhile...i stained the  pages, folded, and pierced them...sowed them to the faux black leather using a long stitch with a chain variation....quickly sowed another piece of cloth onto the faux leather tabs...i did this because faux leather would not adhere to the cover pieces since it is not absorbent...
 glue on the bronze corners...
and went on to glue on the cover pieces...
Placed a clear plastic between the page block and the covers to avoid any glue seeping onto the pages...
 did that for both sides...
once the glue dried up i went on to add a bit of blackwash to the covers...
 and its done!
